2019 has been busy times for the WPA. In our second full calendar year, we are determined to continue to grow. We've spent the first few months working hard to grow our membership.

Membership Drive: As a result of our membership drive, WPA has grown by 100% from last year. That's an incredible growth in just one year. But, we know we can grown larger and that's exciting.

Youth Scholarship: We've also just closed an essay contest for our youth members. One lucky member will win $50 to use toward their poultry project in the coming year. This is the second year for this opportunity and we've had a tremendous response.

In addition to keeping these opportunities available, we've been working hard to keep our website up-to-date and planning some exciting poultry-related education and showing opportunities. "Poultry-Paloozas" are being offered throughout the state (Torrington, Cody and Sheridan) and will include a fun show and educational sessions. Open to youth and adults, WPA members can register at a lesser cost. We've been happy to partner with Wyoming 4-H to offer these unique experiences.

WPA is looking forward to hosting monthly poultry swaps beginning March 30. This is a neat opportunity to buy and sell your birds. The first one will be held at the Goshen County Extension Office parking lot. A small vendor fee will be collected but WPA members will have a reduced rate.

We also joined the APA - American Poultry Association this year! This allows us to have one APA sanctioned show. We've been investigating this possibility and potential locations for this exciting event.

It's not too late to join WPA and your membership is good for a full year. We've been working hard for our members and are looking forward to hosting a statewide conference call soon.
