The Wyoming Poultry Association was officially re-launched in the Fall of 2017 after a lengthy 70-ish year hiatus. As with any volunteer-led association, WPA had some hiccups and bumps throughout the year as we the struggled to get established. From changing officers, figuring out technology (website, Paypal, etc.) and trying to spread the word of our formation, we survived our first year and look forward to more success.

We held three business meetings and cancelled two, established a checking account, wrote a constitution and bylaws, completed the state government paperwork and created a wildly successful group on Facebook.

Our first statewide event was a youth poultry essay contest. Youth contestants submitted their essays and the winner earned $50 toward their 4-H or FFA poultry project. This was a huge help in spreading the word of our association and the essays were great fun to read, too. We look forward to relaunching this again in 2019.

This summer on our Facebook group, we celebrated our birds through a photo-sharing blast that turned into a calendar contest! We set-up an information table and silent auction during the Wyoming State Fair Junior Poultry Show and finally got to meet each other face-to-face. This is also when we were able to set-up some regional directors for the Central, South East and North East regions of our state. These good folks are responsible for offering up activities and events in their area and helping spread the word of what's happening.

This past fall on our Facebook page we've been testing our knowledge and sharing some chuckles with "Showmanship Mondays." Fun and informative, this is a fun way to introduce some of the showmanship questions that are commonly asked of our 4-H and FFA members.

In 2019, we hope to recruit more members and provide more benefits to these members. With a goal of hosting an APA sanctioned show in 2020, it's important to note that we need members and finances to be able to reach this goal. We look forward to meeting the needs, interests and enthusiasms of our membership.

Cheers!
